The single family realestate residence at 499 South Ocean Blvd., sold by Pamela D. Blow, carried a selling price of $5.3 million ($559 per square foot). In 1999 the property sold for $5.1 million.
Concretions containing barite range in size from less than 1 foot to 4 feet in diameter and are generally elliptical in shape. They are usually not intact when found on the surface, but this exposes the core material and enables one to determine if the particular nodule contains barite. A very small culbertson and town percentage of the concretions contain realestate barite crystals. Specimens occur in all exposures of the barite culbertson zone, but it appears that the concretions in shale adjacent to both the longitudinal and transverse faults contain the highest barite concentrations. The faulted areas probably created more permeable conditions that concentrated the flow of mineralizing fluids. All concretions from this zone are fractured to some degree, and the pattern of this fracturing town and realestate can be used to culbertson identify these fault zones. The areas along fault planes were subjected to a shearing action that produced a pattern of fracturing that is different from the desiccation cracking of a normal town septarian realestate concretion. The sheared concretions culbertson consist of a mass of small angular pieces cemented by largely anhedral, pale yellow calcite with small spaces between fragments. They do contain barite, but it is normally in the form of small crystals that are hard town to extract unbroken. Desiccated concretions consist of much larger pieces with a blocky or columnal form and large, more planer openings. The best crystal-producing concretions have a roughly cubic core surrounded by several polyhedral external blocks. If there was crystallization realestate in the large internal spaces (septa), crystals were free to grow without interference. In most cases new crystal growth began where openings pinched out or at the apex of sharp edges on concretion sections; these conditions are most common in the lower regions of concretions because the base sections are seldom fractured. When concretions are opened, the culbertson septa are often filled with fine shale particles and old ant nests. This material frequently contains dislodged town crystals.
[FIGURE realestate and culbertson and town 3 OMITTED]It is important to note that there is a 7-10-foot-thick bentonite-capped, erosion-resistant bed overlaying the barite-containing concretion zone. The bentonite cap weathers to a dark gray, after undergoing significant bloating, with the end product a layer of gumbo soil, devoid of vegetation, with a "popcorn" surface characteristic of degraded bentonite (Gill and Cobban 1966). Color realestate differences on weathered concretions can also be used as an indicator of barite-containing material. The barite-zone concretions often have a dull red tint in culbertson and town contrast to the gray surfaces of the layers above realestate and below the producing zone.
